May I have this dance?

“BUT MOOOOOM I DON’T WANT TO GO!”

Tails said to his mom as she was brushing his fur.

“I know you don’t sweaty, but it’s part of being on the Council. We have to go to this party at the castle whether you like it or not. Now hold your tails still so I can brush them. “

Tails then started spinning his tails in hope to get away fast, but his mom grabbed him.

“ MILES PROWER! Stop this right now! We are going and that means you too and that’s final!”

Tails then sat down pouting a little knowing he had been beat. Rosemary then continued to brush his fur just as Amadeus walked in the door with a bag.

“ Hello rosemary. How’s tails been? “

“ Terrible. He won’t stay still. “

While she was distracted tails made a beeline for the door but was caught by Amadeus.

“ Now miles. You need to stop this right now, or you’ll make us late. “

He then hands tails the bag.

“ Now go change into those new clothes right now. “

Tails knew it was no use to argue with his dad so he just grumbled as he stomped up the stairs and into his room.

“You did remember to lock his window, right Amadeus?”

“Yes I did. He won’t be escaping that way.”

They both then heard a groan from tails meaning he tried to get out the window but found it locked.

“I still can’t believe all he has to wear to this party are his white gloves and those shoes of his.”

“ Not true mom. I have a welding mask, welding gloves, and a welding apron. “

“ Be serious miles.”

“ I am dad.”

protested tails as he slammed the door shut. Both Amadeus and rosemary groaned at this. A little while later tails came down dressed in a tuxedo with a black tie, black pants and black dress shoes.

"You look handsome miles."

“I feel stupid mom. (I hate wearing this monkey suite. Thought tails.)”

“Come on miles. We don’t want to be late.”

Rosemary Said as she along with Amadeus dragged tails out of the house and towards the castle.


At the castle Nicole was in the main dance hall setting up the decorations with the nanites when sally came in.

“Hey Nicole. How is the decorating coming along?”

“It’s coming along great. Say sally?"

"Yes?"

"Are you planning on coming to this party?”

“Yes I am, I even convinced sonic to come.”

“That’s great. How did you manage to get sonic to come?”

“I told him there will be chili dogs here.”

“Oh”

“Nicole, do you plan on coming?”

“Um I don’t know. “

“Come on Nicole, it’ll be fun.”

“Alright I’ll come.”

Nicole said as she finished with decorating.

“What do you think?”

“It looks beautiful Nicole. We’d better go and get ready, see you later Nicole.”

"Bye sally."

both sally and Nicole left the room to get ready.


A little while later tails and his parents were walking up the path to the castle when sonic ran up.

“Hey tails.”

“Hi sonic.”

Tails could easily see that sonic was dressed up too.

“Sonic, I’ve never seen you dressed up before, Why?”

“Well see I-“

Sonic stared but was interrupted by tails.

“No wait, let me guess.  You’re going to the party at the castle too.

“Yes.”

“Sally?”

“Yea.”

“Chili dogs?”

“Yup.”

“I knew it.”

“Why are you going tails?”

“My parents are making me go.”

“I see. Well see you there.”

Sonic then took off leaving tails behind.


At the party everyone was having a good time there were people dancing, listening to the music, enjoying the food, or talking to one another. Amadeus and rosemary were talking to Elias and tails was just walking around looking at the decorations until he ran into sonic and sally.

“Hello tails.”

“Hello sally, Hey sonic. You two look like you’re having a good time."

"Yea, what about you little buddy?"

“It’s not the worst time I ever had but it’s not the best either.  So it’s ok.”

“Well that’s good to here. Just try to have a good time, ok?

“Alright sally.”

Tails then continued to walk around until he saw Nicole standing near the window sill looking out. Nicole is wearing a purple dress that reaches all the way down to her ankles. Tails then started to walk to Nicole and called her name. Nicole turns around upon hearing her name being called and saw tails walk up next to her.

“Oh, hi tails.  Are you enjoying the party?”

“You can say that. Are you?”

“Yes I am.”

“Then why are you over here?”

“I was just lost in thought. That’s all.”

“Ok”  

They then looked to the dance floor and saw sonic dancing with sally.

“There both dancing pretty well, Aren’t they Nicole?”

Tails said as he looked back at Nicole.

“Indeed they are.”

I’m just curious, but have you ever danced before Nicole?

“Yes I have, A wile a go at mina’s concert.”

Nicole then lowered her ears and had a sad look to her face. Tails instantly knew what concert she meant. He then moved his hand behind her and started patting her back in a sympathetic way.

“Come on Nicole. cheer up. Mina apologized for making that song and every one now likes you and aren’t afraid of you anymore. Besides, this is meant to be a happy time. Not for reflecting on bad memories.”

Nicole smiled but still looked a little upset.

“That’s true tails. Thanks.”

Tails noticed she still looked a little upset and tried to figure out a way to cheer her up. His ears then twitched at the sound of a new song beginning. He smiled at this because he now had an idea. He then got in front of Nicole, bowed a little with his hand outstretched.

"May I have this dance?"

Nicole looked at tails a little before she smiled, took his hand and said yes.


Tails and Nicole then walked over to the dance floor while still holding hands. They both started dancing as the new song started playing. Both tails and Nicole were having a wonderful time dancing to the music and twirling each other around. Sonic and sally both saw them dancing.  Sonic gave them a thumbs up and sally just smiled at them as they too danced to the music. Over with rosemary, Amadeus and Elias, they had just finished their conversation and were just looking around.

Where do you think miles is Amadeus?  

Elias then pointed to the dance floor.

“I think I know were tails is.”

Rosemary and Amadeus looked to where he was pointing and saw tails dancing with Nicole.

“It looks like miles found a way to have some fun here after all, Right Rosemary ”

“Yes he did. And let us let him have his fun.”

they both then sat back and watched.

Tails and Nicole danced with each other until the party ended. When tails and Nicole walked out the door Nicole turned to face tails.

“Thanks tails I had a wonderful time.”

“You’re welcome Nicole.”

Nicole then gave tails a quick kiss on the cheek in thanks before she disappeared in a wisp of green light. Tails then smiled as he held his cheek and though, that was the best night of my life. He then started walking back home with his parents.
